
A medical executive with a history of improving operations, Pachavit Kasemsap, MD, prepared for his career in the field of healthcare by obtaining a doctor of medicine from Washington University in 1992. Dr. Pachavit Kasemsap went on to study Health Sector Management at the University of Miami, where he earned a Master of Business Administration and distinction as class valedictorian.
Among his recent appointments, Dr. Kasemsap served as Associate Medical Director of the MCCI Medical Group from 2013 to 2015. His achievements included reducing its medical loss ratio (MLR) from 98 percent to 86 percent and increasing its net income margin to $23.4 million. Based on his performance, he advanced to the position of Medical Director of WellMed Medical Group. There, he supervised four medical directors and grew the number of small-group primary care providers from below 20 to more than 40 contracted providers.
Most recently, Pachavit Kasemsap, MD, held the title of Senior Medical Director at Highmark Inc. In the role, he saved the company more than $3 million a year by eliminating multiple high-cost specialty drugs that were under automatic authorization as part of the cancer collaborative pathway program. He also delivered considerable savings through innovative treatment solutions.
